Officer Bob Gagen
participated in the Western States
Police and Fire Games in Boise,
Idaho, August 16-23, 2008. He took
a silver medal in the triathlon! The
triathlon consists of: a 1500 meter
swim; a 40 K bike ride (25 miles)
and a 10K run (6.2 miles). These
events are done all at one time, one
right after another and are divided
into age groups. Bob’s age group is
the Men’s Master “B”- 45-49 year
old. The fastest combined time
wins. Our Bob did it in 2 hours, 11
minutes, 26 seconds (2:11:36). The
winner's time was 2:03:48.
Congratulations and great job!
Bob trained for
months at our local swim pool. He
cycles and runs all the time. Bob
has previously done Police and Fire
Games in Florida and
California.
He has participated in International
Games as well.
Next years
competition will be held in Santa
Clarita, Calif. The 2009 World
Games will be held in Vancouver,
British Columbia, Canada.
